10/5/2013- Holland – The Rector Major opens a new Salesian community in Amsterdam
(ANS - Amsterdam) – The Rector Major is on a visit to the St John Berchmans Province of Northern Belgium and Holland. Yesterday he was present for the opening of a new community in Amsterdam. This is, as Don Chavez said, an act of faith and courage, to ensure that the young people here may receive the gifts that Don Bosco has to offer: a special love for them, a firm conviction of the value of education, and the Preventive System as an educational method and a form of spirituality.
15/4/2013- RMG – Planning Meeting for Salesian Professional Training and Education
(ANS – Rome) – The first planning meeting of directors and technicians of European Salesian Technical Schools and Training Centres took place at the Generalate from 12 to 14 April. The meeting was organized by the Office for Schools and Professional Training in the Youth Ministry Department. Twenty-five professionals in the area took part, coming from Bosnia, Great Britain, Italy, Malta, Kosovo, Poland, Spain and Hungary.
9/4/2013- Portugal – 2nd meeting of the Commission for Salesian Schools in Europe
(ANS – Lisbon) – The 2nd meeting of Commission for Salesian (SDB and FMA) schools in Europe met on 5-6 April in Lisbon. The Department (sdb) and Area (FMA) for Youth Ministry brought together 22 people from 11 countries in Europe.
22/3/2013- Ireland – PE: Fr Klement met Salesian Missionaries
(ANS – Maynooth) – On Saturday 16th March 2013 a meeting took place at the Salesian House in Maynooth University which reflected on the progress of Project Europe. Present were Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for Salesian Missions throughout the world, Fr Michael Casey, Provincial of the Irish Salesian province, Salesian confreres who have come to Ireland as part of Project Europe and a number of Salesians from different Irish communities.
5/3/2013- Hungary – PE: meeting of missionaries from Austria, Bulgaria and Hungary
(ANS – Péliföldszentkereszt) – Last March 1-3, 2013 the inter-provincial meeting of the missionaries from Project Europe in Austria, Bulgaria (CEP) and Hungary took place at Péliföldszentkereszt, the mother house of the Salesians in Hungary who are celebrating the centenary of Salesian presence this year. 16 missionaries were present along with the confreres assigned by the Provincial to guide their insertion into their new Provinces.
24/1/2013- RMG – Rector Major’s Good Night at the conclusion of the General Council’s Winter Session
(ANS – Rome) – Yesterday evening, 23 January, the Rector Major gave the Good Night to Salesians at the Generalate explaining what had taken place in the Winter Session of the General Council. The official conclusion to the Session is tomorrow, 25 January.
14/12/2012- Great Britain – PE: Welcoming and accompanying missionaries
(ANS – Bollington) – Accompanied by Fr Kieran Anderson the Provincial Councillor for Formation and Fr Tony Fernandes, a member of the Province Formation Commission, last weekend between Friday and Sunday 7-9 December there was a meeting at Savio House Bollington for a small group of Project Europe confreres, from India, Vietnam Poland and Slovakia. It was a good opportunity for them to reflect and share about their experiences since coming to the GBR Province and also to become more familiar with it and with each other.
5/12/2012- France – Ways for missionaries to fit into Project Europe
(ANS – Lyons) – Missionaries sent to France, Belgium and the Netherlands gathered in the Salesian Formation House at Fourvičre in Lyons, from 30th November to 4th December. Also taking part in the meeting were people from the Provinces who are accompanying missionaries to help them in a gradual and effective integration.
4/12/2012- RMG – Commission for Project Europe
(ANS – Rome) – The Project Europe Commission met on Sunday afternoon, December 2nd, following the 4th Meeting of Provincials in Europe. It has now completed its work of reflection, accompaniment, encouragement and animation of Project Europe (PE). This indeed was its last meeting.
3/12/2012- RMG – PE: Evaluation and future directions: the Rector Major’s report
(ANS – Rome) – The Rector Major opened the work of the 4th European Provincials Conference by presenting some of the data which shows what has been achieved thus far in Project Europe, and offered some direction for the future. It was not just a case of data but an interpretation of how Salesians have perceived, accepted and are putting PE into practice.
