(ANS – Santa Clara) – The Salesian Cooperators in Cuba welcomed the World Delegates SDB and FMA for the Association between 3 - 6 November, Fr Giuseppe Casti, sdb, and Sr Leslye Sándigo. Salesian Cooperators from Camagüey, Manguito-Calimete and Sancti Spiritu – part of the Santa Clara centre – spent a day of reflection with them on the meaning of their vocation.
At the beginning of the day Fr Casti celebrated Mass. Sr Sándigo offered a reflection on the readings for the day which helped the pastoral workers to gain a sense of God's loving presence.
Later the two guests were entertained with singing and dancing by youngsters from Santa Clara; while Deacon Juan Carlos Urquijo, National Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators in Cuba, offered some brief thoughts and then asked the two visitors to take back to the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, a painting of himself talking with Cuban youth.
Then in the Parish hall, members of the Association met Fr Casti and Sr Sándigo to discuss the areas of activity proper to the Cooperators in Cuba. Sr Sándigo reminded them that the Salesian Cooperator vocation is lived out throughout each day and that one remains a Cooperator in every area of life: family, work, civil life...
In the afternoon Fr Casti and Sr Sándigo returned to Havana to meet Cooperators from other local centres such as San Miguel del Padrón, La Víbora and Old Havana, joined also by a small group from Santiago di Cuba.
In the days that followed the two World Delegates then went on to the Dominican Republic to animate the local Cooperator centres there.
