(ANS - Linares) - The Salesian Agricultural School in Linares has launched Bicentenary Wine, a new product to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco.
With the approach of 16 August 2015, the actual date of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Don Bosco, and in time for the forthcoming visit to Chile of the Tenth Successor of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, at the end of July, the Salesians in the country continue their programme of commemorative activities.
In this context, the Salesian Agricultural School in the Maule region organized the official launch of this new wine. The idea was conceived in August of 2014.
It is a red wine obtained from the Carmenere vine. It is characterized by an intense ruby red colour and an aroma of strawberries, plums and dried fruit.
The production involved both workers and students of the school who took care of the manual harvesting and fermentation, as well as bottling and labelling.
The launch of the new wine was on 24 June, at a ceremony attended by, among others, the Provincial Director of Education, Jorge Tapia; Bishop Tomislav Koljatic of Linares; the director of the María Auxiliadora High School, Sister Luz Altamirano; the Dean of the School, Marianela Troncoso; and the Chairman of the Entrepreneurial Council, Armando Concha.
After a message from the Rector of the house, Fr Giovanni Favaretto, the Club de Huasos (club of the horsemen) performed a short traditional display and then everyone present was offered wine.
Finally, Rodrigo Rojas, professor of viticulture and the man responsible for the winemaking, presented the technical review of the product.
