(ANS – Liloan) – On the morning of 11 March 2016, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, finally arrived at Don Bosco Boys’ Home in Cotcot, Liloan. He was warmly welcomed with the beat of the lyre and drum and ushered to the St Dominic Savio Pilgrim Chapel for a Thanksgiving Mass.
The Rector Major presided at the Eucharistic celebration and was joined by other Salesians including Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, Provincial of the Southern Province of the Philippines.
In his homily, Fr Ángel emphasized that the young people should continue to live the dream of Don Bosco. He communicated hope by telling them that a better future awaits them if they continue to embrace the good values that the Salesians are giving them. He also thanked the parents, teachers and other adults who attended the Mass. He encouraged all to continue to serve the young on their journey.
“We were all convinced that God is alive and that the Spirit of Don Bosco is very much felt in this visit. We were all happy to have shared the best of us during the visit of the Rector Major. Even for a short time, the message of love, compassion and mercy penetrated our hearts. With Fr Ángel, SDB, in our midst, we cherish that precious moment with us. We cherish the presence of the Spirit of Don Bosco” says Mrs. Luzviminda Los Bañes, School Manager.
This brought to an end the visit of the Rector Major to Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines. On Saturday 21 February he returned to Rome.
