(ANS – Turin) – Yesterday, Tuesday, August 11th, the MGS youth were invited to think on how to be “like Don Bosco”. After the formative moment in the morning, in PalaRuffini, the theme was dealt with in a deeper way in the afternoon through the itineraries in the city of Turin. The evening was characterized by entertainment and joy in Valdocco, with the feast of MGS Italy.

“We want to live more and more Don Bosco’s spirit, and live it at a global level”. This is the motivation that pushed Federica from Macerata, of the Province of Central Italy (ICC), to participate in the event; Gabriel instead, also coming from ICC, spoke of an “astonishing feast”. “What would I steal from Don Bosco? His stubbornness in believing in his own dreams and the cheerfulness in pursuing them”, the young man says.
And cheerfulness was precisely the central thread of the evening, that was spent by about 2000 youth in the playgrounds of Valdocco – not only Italians, since several Delegations coming from countries depending on the Italian provinces were also present.
Constantly involved by the animating team, the youth danced and sang, but they also listened attentively to they various messages addressed to them.
Sr. Runita Borja, the Delegate for the Pastoral of the Youth of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, conveyed to the youth the greeting of the Superior General, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, and praised the attitude she had seen in them. “I saw what communion means”, the sister said.
Later on the new official logo of MGS Italy was officially presented. The logo was chosen, after a proper competition, by the MGS National Council and was explained on the stage by its author, the young architect Alfredo Franciosa. Drawing inspiration from the logo of the Bicentenary, from which it picks up the theme of Don Bosco among the feasting youth and Salesian Family, the logo aims at reminding how Don Bosco is alive today in the extent in which is alive his Salesian Family, in their facets and variety, symbolized by various colours.
In the end, the Tenth Successor of Don Bosco, Fr.Ángel Fernández Artime, spoke to the youth with the traditional “buona notte”. “Don Bosco continues to be present in each one of you”, commenced the Rector Major. Then, after emphasizing the peculiarity of Valdocco and of the Salesian places, he invited all to listen to the voice of the Lord, of Mary and of Don Bosco, with the certainty that each boy and girl will find answers to their questions in these days of celebration.
The Rector Major also reminded that Don Bosco was “passionately in love with God, with our Lady and with his youth” and invited all those who want to be like Don Bosco to imitate him in this attitude; he finally recited a Hail Mary with all those present, praying for the youth of the Middle East.
