(ANS – Panjim) – The indoor auditorium of Kala Academy Panjim came alive, with the sound of music and the colours of the rainbow, as Don Bosco`s Konkan Development Society (DBKDS) celebrated 10 years of service to the marginalized and the underprivileged in the Konkan region. This programme was organised by the Executive Director of DBKDS Father Jose Sequeira.

The programme began with an amazing Divli Dance performed by the students from Bicholim, North Goa. This was followed by the ceremonial Lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ambar Timblo, MD of Fomento Resources, Father Ian Figueiredo, Provincial of the Province of Panjim, Father Alwyn D`Souza, Director of DBKDS, Special guests and Beneficiaries of DBKDS. The Souvenir in honour of the Decennial landmark was then released by the Chief Guest.
The audience was very appreciative of the variety of items put up by the beneficiaries of the Projects and Programmes that DBKDS is running in partnership with corporate entities and the Government. The folk dances of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa were presented with energy, colour and enthusiasm. Sonia Shirsat, one of Goa`s most feted singers, was cheered and applauded for her rendition of the Konkani favourite, `Lisboa`. A short play on the life of Don Bosco was staged, interspersed with song and dance.
Awards were presented to students who had shown commitment and excellence in their respective fields and video clips of the work done by DBKDS over the last 10 years were shared with the audience.
The grand finale was the Song “People Over the World”, sung by Sonia Shirsat with the entire cast on stage, singing along.
