(ANS – Paris) – The Salesian Family in France-South Belgium Province has a new website. It is conceived as a virtual space for exchanging information, but also as a window on Salesian pedagogy and spirituality. The site has been 'baptised' as Don Bosco Aujourd’hui, that is, bearing the same name as the French language Salesian Bulletin. The official launch took place on 24 January, Feast of St Francis de Sales, patron saint of Catholic publishers.
Responding to the desire to follow up the work of communication and animation of the Salesian Bulletin on the web, the site publishes all articles published in Don Bosco Aujourd’hui in its paper edition, choosing, according to need, whether the text goes up as is or needs to be presented differently. But there are also additional sections: current information, spirituality, education, leadership and ministry.
At the right on the homepage, there is a “Good Morning or Good Night”, a daily brief thought for users. Authors of these messages, all members of the Salesian Family, will change each week.
New videos are available from a black strip on the main page, and these are often connected with news items. While Don Bosco's Relic was on pilgrimage through the Province these videos were much appreciated; this section will be given special care in the future.
Still on the homepage there is a cartoon to provoke both humour and reflection; the “fil d’infos” – news from around Salesian houses – and a collection of links: to other Salesian-connected sites, and lives of Saints in the Salesian Family.
The site also has Twitter, Facebook and Google+ connections, enabling users to follow it on social networks. The development team is also working on a smartphone version.
Site production members are: Fr Vincent Grodziski, sdb, chief editor; Sébastien Robert, webmaster; Hélène Boissiere-Mabille, and Bro Jacques Rey, Social Communication Delegate for the Province.
