(ANS - Bonn) - At their annual General Assembly on 13 April, the member organisations of the Don Bosco Network (DBN) reaffirmed their commitment to support the Salesians` special mission in Sudan.
To this end, the Salesian Delegation in Sudan realises their strategy planning, project management and fundraising on the spot in close cooperation with the DBN`s local office in Khartoum. Opened by the DBN member VIS in summer 2006, the agency renders the service of a Development Office to the Salesians.
The President of the DBN, Mr. Hans-Jürgen Dörrich, assures: "We give our full support to the Salesian mission in Sudan in the fields of project coordination, hiring and sending qualified experts to the country and coordinating all the NGOs` helping activities."
As the Councillor for Missions, Fr. Francis Alencherry SDB, stated: "With the Salesian Congregation continuing to increase the Salesian presence on the spot by sending more and more Salesians to this African nation, and with the reliable service of the DBN, the dream of building up to 200 rural schools in Sudan is becoming more and more a reality."
The Salesians in Sudan work in close cooperation with the Salesian Sisters, other religious congregations and dioceses in different school, education and training projects. Additionally, the DBN member organisations in Europe complete the "Action Sudan" by means of fundraising in Europe, support to the project management and also by awareness raising in several European countries.
