After the success of the book and DVD “Aux racines d`un rêve” (To the roots of a dream), produced two years ago about the origin of Don Bosco’s plan and his home land, this year ’“Atelier Multimédia” has decided to set itself the challenge of publishing a book starting from the text of the musical play “Sur la corde raide” (On the tight-rope). Written by the Salesian Jacques Rey for the 75 anniversary of the school at Ressins, near Lyon it will be revised and, presented as a musical, will be published as a DVD.
The Show will have an international flavour: from Belgium will be the composer author of the songs and the designers of the filmed extracts; from France the actors in the theatrical company and various extras; Italy’s contribution will come from Missioni Don Bosco (making the films) and from the Accademia dello Spettacolo (a professional school of song and dance).
On the weekend of 9-10 April the whole Franco-Belgian team met in Turin with the Italian dancers for a first get together of those taking part in the Show which will be filmed in the Valdocco Theatre next July. Actors and dancers got to know each other and had their first rehearsals
The Accademia dello Spettacolo is a professional school in Turin part of the Salesian network which takes youngsters from 15 years of age and offers them an artistic formation as an alternative to the traditional one, preparing them in the arts of song and dance. Missioni Don Bosco in Turin, which has produced many multimedia creations for the whole Salesian world has already collaborated several times with the Accademia.
In France the preparations for the Show involve several schools and Salesian workshops: the mechanical workshops in Marseille and Nice, the cabinet-making shops in Caen, the sixth-form colleges in Lyon, Marseille and Briançon. In Belgium, Théo Mertens and his son Dominique are working on the orchestration of the songs and on the film animations respectively.
It is hoped by those behind the project that by 2015, the bicentenary year of the birth of Don Bosco, the Show may be put on, using the DVD, in Salesian houses around the world.
