(ANS - Recife) - "In fact, there are no masses,” the sociologist Raymond Williams wrote. “There are only ways of seeing people as masses." Yet the media continue to see people as masses. Everyone must think the same or act in the same way. Edu-communication is not opposed to the use of the media; on the contrary, precisely because it recognizes the presence and influence of the media in everyday life it seeks to educate people in the use of media.

As the name suggests, Edu-communication is an area that assimilates the knowledge from Pedagogy and the Communication Sciences. It is in this context that, since the beginning of 2015, the Salesian Institute Sagrado Corazón of Recife has made available to the educational community the opportunity to experience a different way of educating, through Radio Don Bosco and the TV Studio. "The goal is to create a multifaceted teaching approach developed by young communicators who are the students themselves.

The two projects are based on the Theory of Mediation and intend to contribute to reflection and practice on Edu-communication in school. The emphasis of these tools is the role of "mediation" and reinforces the idea of educating to learn how to receive. "Radio Don Bosco and the TV Studio bring new experiences and new knowledge" says one of the young communicators, Hugo Cavalcanti, a student.

Another important aspect is the educative work of these projects, which have a special place in the vast Edu-communication project of the Salesian Network of Schools where the aim is to give students opportunities for cultural experiences.

The basic idea of the project is to train young people with new critical capabilities in learning and changing the way students and other members of the educative community receive inputs from the current social media.
