(ANS - Madrid) - Can you imagine a world without missionaries? From the start of this year until now, Salesian missionaries have helped 450,000 people in emergency situations, such as in Myanmar and Nepal. Without them, there would be 2,000 more people on the streets of South Sudan; over 200 Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone would not be cared for; hundreds of young people of Syria would not have a safe place to play and hundreds of people would be living on the streets of the Central African Republic ... and likewise thousands of people in 133 countries around the world.
Missionaries, volunteers, teachers, psychologists, catechists, youth leaders, social workers ... all collaborate in the work of the Salesian Missions. But for them to be able to help, encourage, accompany and educate ... they need to be trained to know how to act in all circumstances. Investment in education is an investment for the future, especially if you invest in the training of a person whose vocation is to serve the poor. They are on the front lines and it is not enough to have good will, the quality of care provided to those most in need has to be excellent.
In any institution and, in particular, one like the Salesian Congregation which is particularly focused on the education of children and young people, the most important wealth is the people. With a good team you can achieve targets and even exceed them. With a poor team, every project is doomed to fail.
