(ANS – Liluah) – The first Yamaha Training Center in Kolkata was inaugurated at Don Bosco Technical School, Liluah on 17 July, 2014. It brought together two renowned groups, Yamha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd and the Salesians of Don Bosco, both with their specific fields of specialization, to provide a platform to under privileged youths to build up their career through Skill Development Training.

The program was inaugurated in a very Salesian style by the Provincial Superior of the Salesians of Kolkata, Fr Nirmol Gomes SDB and Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd Mr. Masaki Asano. They jointly cut the ribbon Inaugurating the classroom where the training will take place. Fr Gomes thereafter blessed the classroom and invoked divine assistance on the project.

The inauguration programme included also a small cultural show performed by students of Don Bosco Technical School, Liluah.

Fr Biji Thomas, Rector of Don Bosco Liluah, while welcoming everyone to the function outlined the history of Don Bosco Liluah and pointed out to everyone how the technical school was growing in order to help the financially disadvantaged youths, following the mission and Vision of Don Bosco. He also thanked Yamaha for coming forward to lend a hand in carrying out this mission.

Fr. Gomes  appreciated the Salesian style of the programme and expressed his happiness in seeing that the industries are coming up with such effective ventures to fulfill the mission of Don Bosco.

Mr. Asano showed his consternation at the fact that today a large number of unskilled youth are pushed towards unemployment, thus becoming a significant factor in the hindrance to the nation’s development. He said that Yamaha`s partnership with Don Bosco was “meant to address this very concern by providing a platform to the economically weaker and unemployed youth to obtain a job oriented technical training in two-wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards.”

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will receive a certification by Yamaha Technical Academy at Silver level, and Don Bosco technical school will help them to find a suitable employment.
