(ANS - Moatize) - A second Austria-Moatize project is planned for the Salesian Mission of Moatize in Tete province. The project is being carried out by the Austrian NGO Jugend Eine Welt. It plans activities to raise finance in support of social development through the "2013-2015 integrated programme for the fight against poverty through rural development and human formation."
The aim of the project is to improve the ability of members of the rural community to adopt innovations in agriculture and livestock, in order to improve their food security and income. The project helps the farmers to introduce or intensify the production of vegetables under supervision, to experiment with new methods of production and processing of products, and also to get involved in raising livestock.
The experience of the previous project showed that the farmers who were able to accept and put into practice the various teachings have improved their material situation. Some started producing tomatoes, which they had not done before. Others were able to sell their products and improve their homes. Many other positive examples have come in time.
The direct beneficiaries of this second project (2013-2015) are a thousand families, with a total of about 5,000 people, all living in rural communities of the district of Moatize. Indirectly, however, the benefits will reach about 8,000 people living in the surrounding areas.
The project is taking place in Inhangoma, with three communities; Kambulatsitse, with four communities; Mecungas; Mussacama and Nkondezdze .
The development training programme has several lines of action:
