Warrenstown, Ireland – 31 March 2013 – The director of the weather reporting service on Irish RTÉ, Evelyn Cusack, on Easter Sunday said that Salesian Brother James O`Hare, former principal of Warrenstown Horticultural College, had collected 63 years worth of weather reports sent to Met Éireann, the national Irish meteorological service, on the first working day of each month. Each morning at 9 o`clock, Bro. James faithfully registered the temperature and humidity figures, minimums and maximums, of 5, 10 and 20 cm, as well as rain, cloud cover details. Opened in 1951, Warrenstownis one of the country`s weather stations. Bro. James` interest in weather reporting came from its importance for gardeners and farmers whom he taught for more than 50 years. |
