Ladnu, India – October 24, 2015 – Brother Alex Gonsalves, SDB received a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for his work in the area of rain harvesting and afforestation in the drought-prone villages of the Ahmednagar and Beed districts of Maharashtra in Western India. The award was presented by the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India at a function held to mark the opening of the Third Indian Social Work Congress at the Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, Ladnun, Rajasthan. The Plaque presented to Bro. Alex contained a brief summary of the work done by him in his 24 years at the Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, which he founded in order to serve the poor of the Ahmednagar district through participation of villagers in their own development.
