Tijuana, Mexico - april 2015 - This year the provinces of England, Austrian, Irland and the USA East and West have decided to have their novitiate together in California USA. The main idea of having the novitiate together is to give the novices an opportunity of group experience, God has blessed this group with 11 novices all together. As part of their formation, the Mission Animation Department has put together a short missionary experience in Tijuana Mexico. Juan Carlos Montenegro the Mission animation Delegate shared with us "the idea of this trip is to open the eyes of the novices to a different reality, a reality where another type of poverty is exposed to the novices". The novices have been part of the famous "Pascua Juvenil" (Youth Ester celebrations), they also have been present at "El Desayunador" where the Salesians serve breakfast to over 1200 homeless everyday, they also had the opportunity to visit the families in the neighborhood and to spend an evening with the orphans while participating in the Holy Week celebrations. This experience has changed the way on how I see things, I realized that I have moved out of my comfort zone, I have done things that I never imagine says Novice Paul Garcia current novice.
