Tokyo, Japan - October 19, 2013 - On October 19, about 60 Salesians and young people gathered in the formation house in Tokyo, Chofu, to celebrate Salesian Missionary Day. The event began with a celebration of the Word presided over by Fr Mario Yamanouchi , Vice-Provincial of Japan. The homily was given by Fr Achille Loro Piana, Provincial Delegate for the Missions. He mentioned in particular the summer experience of volunteering in the Solomon Islands by young people from the Don Bosco Overseas Young Volunteer Group (DBVG ). At the end of the prayer, eight young people from DBVG shared their experiences of volunteering at Guadalcanal with documentaries, testimonies and songs.
