Toronto, Canada – May 2013 – During the first ten days of May, the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) in Toronto took part in various activities on topics relating to respect for life, for young people and for women. On 8 May, the young people took part in a Mass celebrated the day before the “March for Life” in Ottawa. Archbishop O’Brien of Kingston presided. The following day, after the Mass with Cardinal Thomas Collins in St Patrick’s Basilica, the young people of the SYM joined 25,000 people in a demonstration near the parliament. Finally, on 10 May, they attended conferences on the Culture of Life and the protection of young people. This year’s theme was “Stop the Killing of Women: being a woman is not a death sentence”. Reggie Littlejohn, attorney and founder of “Women’s Rights Without Frontiers” gave a very informative talk on forced abortion, homicide and sexual slavery suffered by women in China.
