Nairobi, Kenya – 20 June 2012 – On 20 June Word Refugee Day was celebrated in the “Richard Leaky” Auditorium of the “Kenya National Museum”. The programme began with prayers by Christians and Muslims and with traditional dances performed by refugees in camps in Kenya, coming from Ruanda, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia and Somalia. Afterwards talks describing personal experiences were given by refugees and Kenya was thanked for its welcome given to refugees with the largest refugee camp in the world at Dadab. The NGO which are working with the refugees and their partners had set up some exhibitions . “Don Bosco Boys Town” provided a refreshment centre for people taking part . |
