New Rochelle United States 1 July 2011 - A new group of Salesian Lay Missioners, 14 in number, has begun four weeks of orientation under the direction of SLM director Adam Rudin and his assistant Jayne Feeney. The first phase of orientation takes place together with volunteers from other organizations at Maryknoll. Shortly they will move to the second phase, summer day camp at the Salesian parishes in Port Chester, where they will get practical experience working with youngsters in a Salesian style. The last phase will be a spiritual retreat, July 31-Aug 6, together with some of the confreres. On August 6 Fr. Thomas Dunne, Provincial, will commission them for their missions in South America, Africa, and Asia.
