6/9/2013 - RMG - Salesian Professions on the Feast of Mary

(ANS – Rome) – On the Feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 8 September next, novices in several Salesian Provinces throughout the world will make their first Profession.

These include:

  • 19 novices from the novitiate in Pinerolo, of whom four are brother candidates and the others candidates for priesthood. Of the total, five belong to the Greek Catholic Circumscription in Ukraine andone to that of Austria.The Councillor General for Formation, Fr Francis Cereda, will receive their vows.
  • 16 from the Salesian novitiate of Genzano. These are from Italy, Croatia, Spain, Hungary and Portugal. Among them two are Brother candidates.  The Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez will preside at their profession in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Rome.
  •  9 from the Simon Srugi Salesian novitiate in Sunyani. They all belong to the English Speaking Province of West Africa (AFW). They will make their profession to their Superior Fr Jorge Crisafulli. Eight of them are candidates for priesthood and one a Brother candidate.
  • 8 novices from the Vice-Province of Africa Ethiopia Eritrea (AET), who did their novitiate at Debre Zeit, under the direction of the novice-master Fr Ignacio Laventure.  All of them are candidates for priesthood. They will make their profession in the hands of the Superior of AET, Fr Estifanos Gebremeskel;
  • 7 novices from the Vice-Province of Madagascar, one brother candidate and the others candidates for priesthood. They will make their profession in the hands of Fr Claudio Ciolli, Superior of the Vice-Province;
  • 9 novices from the novitiate at Wozniaków-Kutno, 4 from the Province of Eastern Poland and 5 from that of Northern Poland. All of them are candidates for priesthood. They will make their profession in the presence of the Superior of Eastern Poland, Fr Andrzej Wujek.
  • 7 from the novitiate of Kopiec, 4 from the Province of Southern Poland, 2 from that of Western Poland and 1 from that of Northern Poland. Among them one is Brother candidate. Fr Alfred Leja, Superior of the Western Poland Province, will preside at their profession.

On the same day some novice from the novitiate at Fatumaca in East Timor.
