(ANS – San Salvador) – On 29 June, the Don Bosco University of El Salvador was given a gift of a Boeing 727 by the courier service FedEx. The aircraft, fully functional, will serve as a teaching aid for students following the course for aircraft maintenance technicians.

During the handing over ceremony, a FedEx representative passed over to the authorities of the Salesian institute the aircraft, which had just landed from Brazil.

The Don Bosco University began a course for aircraft maintenance technicians in 2005, thanks to the collaboration given by the Salvadoran company "Aeroman", which deals with the maintenance of aircraft for several companies operating in Latin America.

The course at Don Bosco University currently has 300 students and 237 graduates, many of whom are working with Aeroman. In the next academic year, in addition, the  maintenance course will be transformed into an engineering course.

According to the FedEx representative, this is the first aircraft the company has donated to an educational institution in Central America and also the first to be offered to a Salesian Institute.

The Salesian Mission Office in New Rochelle, in the United States, played an important role in the process of transferring ownership of the aircraft.
