RMG – VI Assembly of the IUS: constant search for quality in the Salesian Universities |
(ANS – Bahía Blanca) – The National Commission for University Approval and Accreditation (CONEAU in Spanish) has approved and given the go-ahead for the Salesian University in Bahía Blanca. The first courses will be in Education, Communications, Psychology and Jurisprudence.
The University seeks to offer quality education to young people, based on Salesian principles and marked by the characteristics which determine the nature and identity of the educative work of Don Bosco. This will take place in an institute set up for the public good, and not for profit. It will be geared towards development and research, advancement in technology, formation of human resources and attention to innovative practices for the common good of the people and the progress of the nation.
It is hoped that lectures will commence in 2014. The Academic Programme will include a Degree in Education and Communications from the Faculty of Social Sciences; a Degree in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology; and a Degree in Law from the Faculty of Jurisprudence.
The staff members proposed for the various offices are: Marta Pini, Rector; Vicente Juan Tirabasso, sdb, Vice-Rector; Hugo Vera, Academic Secretary; Mariela E. Rígano, Research Secretary; Adrián Mandará, Secretary for University life and expansion; Eduardo Luis García, Administrative Secretary; César A. Lombardi and Silvia Mesenzani, Head of the academic subjects of Law; Héctor Rausch, Head of the academic subjects of Social Sciences; and Mónica Rosa Lauría, Head of the academic subject of Psychology.
The Council of Examiners of the Salesian University will consist of Luis Enrique Orozco Silva e Francisco José Piñón. Fr Juan Vicente Picca, sdb, will be Library Director, while Hernán Giorgini, will be Director in the area of evaluaton.
