(ANS – Campos do Jordão) – From yesterday, Monday 4 March, until the coming weekend, Superiors of Salesian circumscriptions in the Interamerica and America South Cone Regions have come together at Vila Dom Bosco, Campos do Jordão, to take part in the Retreat with the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, and his Vicar, Fr Adrian Bregolin, as well as the two Regional Councillors, Fr Esteban Ortiz and Fr Natale Vitali.
At this Lenten time, dedicated to reflection, conversion, and reaffirming our Christian identity, 23 out of a total of 25 provincials from the two regions are together at the Retreat. The presence of so many provincials in the one place, along with 4 members of the General Council also helps with informal meetings over these days and in tackling matters of greater interest across the American continents.
The Retreat venue, Campos do Jordao, in San Paolo Province, is at Brazil's highest location, 1,628 metres above sea level, with a continental climate and European style of architecture often described as “Brazilian Switzerland”. As well as the Retreat house at Vila Dom Bosco, the Salesians also run the Santa Clara social work offering courses, seminars, daily meals, organising free time and cultural activities for young people from poor families.
