Sierra Leone – Don Bosco Fambul introduces new pastoral outreach programme |
(ANS – Freetown) – The Community of Don Bosco Fambul in Freetown, Sierra Leone, solemnly celebrated the feast of St. John Bosco with a huge number of street boys and girls as well as Parishioners on 31 January 2013. The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by His Grace Archbishop Edward Tamba Charles. The “Fambul Choir” animated the Eucharist. After the Solemn Eucharist, lunch was served for more than 300 street children and 100 staff members of the street children home.
A four hours cultural program was also arranged for the occasion. The kids and youngsters brought melody to the occasion through the music band as well as tricks and talent shows. A drama which explained the life and mission of Don Bosco was also presented. Later on the day special guests honored the program through their presence such like National Football Player Mohamed Kallon (Inter Milan), Sara Dgreat (famous national comedian) and Alhaji Amadu Bah aka LAJ (famous national musician).
At the end of the program, tea and snacks were served to all those who attended the function. The street children who participated in the celebrations went home happy to their shelters, and of course with the blessings of the Saint.
