Japan – 75th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Charity |
(ANS – Bang-Nok-Khuek) – On December 8, 2012, the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIHM), celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Foundation of the Congregation at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Bang-Nok-Khuek, Samut Songsongkram.
The Celebration started with the opening of the exposition of the SIHM’s life and mission from the beginning until now, followed by the “75th anniversary of love and service throughout the flow of God’s blessings”– a drama about the history of the SIHM Congregation.
At 10.30 a.m. there was a Eucharistic Celebration which began with the procession of all SIHM sisters. Mgr John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen, Bishop of Ratchaburi presided. Two other Bishops, Mgr Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, Bishop of Surat Thani, and Mgr Enrique Figaredo, Apostolic Prefect of Battambang (Cambodia) concelebrated, along with around 100 priests. Many people from the north to the south of the country came to thank God with us.
Mgr Gaetano Pasotti sdb, the First Bishop of the Diocese of Ratchaburi, was the founder of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Institute was founded on December 7, 1937.
The motto of the Congregation is “Caritas Christi Urgent nos” (The love of Christ impels us). The Spirit of the Congregation is love, service and forgiveness, ready to respond like Mary, to dedicate oneself totally to others, ready to do the will of God with the spirit of sacrifice.
The Mission of the Congregation is to devote oneself to the needs of the Church. The Identity of the Congregation: simplicity of life, spirit of sacrifice, family spirit and being joyful in giving service to God and to others.
