(ANS – Lisbon) –The Salesian Bulletin No. 534 of Portugal, a bi-monthly publication, marked an important development in the magazine founded by Don Bosco in 1877. The September-October issue was published with a new look and graphics and had a limited edition in Braille for blind readers.
Innovation is one of the most important qualities in the world of communication, even for a magazine: to make it up-to-date and, above all, pleasantly usable to its readers, regular or not. The larger size, the more space given to image quality, use of coloured backdrops, abstracts of articles, captions, make the new edition of the Salesian Bulletin more engaging and accessible.
The real news, though, is the Braille Edition.
The SB Editor, Fr. Joaquim Antunes says: "A blind Salesian cooperator asked if it was possible to obtain a copy of the SB in Braille in order to be informed about news from the Salesians, of whom he was a great admirer. We got in touch with the Council Chambers, Lisbon, which have a Braille Department. They accepted the challenge and produced 10 copies to be delivered to the visually impaired. The Director of the Department praised the revamped SB both for its graphic presentation and its contents”.
