(ANS – Rome) – The meeting of Principals of the Salesian Centres of Theological Studies and of those in charge of Theological Studies in the Salesian Congregation will take place in Turin from 7th to 10th November at the Motherhouse of Valdocco. The 75th Anniversary of the Faculty of Theology will be remembered on the last day, also marking the 50th Anniversary of the death of venerable Fr. Giuseppe Quadrio.
The meeting, organised by the Department for the Formation of the Congregation, in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology from the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, will add at the end of the evaluation process of intellectual formation within initial formation, the approval of some "Guidelines" by the Rector Major and the General Council which was seen on the 25th July. The appointment at Valdocco follows that of the Principals of the Salesian Centres of philosophical studies and affiliated centres and associates at the Faculty of Philosophy at the UPS, held last March at the Generalate in Rome.
In addition to the conclusions of the evaluation process of the intellectual training, other topics such as: reviewing courses of the first cycle of Baccalaureate, courses and diploma in Pastoral Theology, the Bologna process applied to Study Centres affiliated to the UPS, the link between the training paths and theological studies, the acquisition of theological method on the part of the Salesian students will be considered.
On the 10th of November, at the International Institute Don Bosco, the Turin section of the Faculty of Theology of the UPS (Crocetta), a Conference on the Venerable Fr Giuseppe Quadrio will be held, coinciding with the opening of the 50th Anniversary of his death. The event will also celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Faculty of Theology. On that occasion, along with other reports, the book "Don Giuseppe Quadrio, theologian and witness" by Fr Antonio Escudero (LAS, Rome 2012) will be presented. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, is expected to attend.
