(ANS – Lomé) – On Friday 11 November on behalf of the Salesians in Togo, Fr José Luis de la Fuente signed a cooperation agreement with the Government of the country and with the international NGO “NGO Don Bosco” (affiliated to the NGO “Jovenes y Desarrollo” in Togo).
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and was attended by the Rectors of the Salesian communities in the country, various Government and Administrative authorities and some guests.
Following the programme for the occasion, after the signing of the agreement, the Hon. Elliott Ohin, Minister of State, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, spoke and expressed the appreciation of the Government to the Salesians for what they had done for the country and proposed a renewed commitment to work closely together with the Salesian communities for the benefit of the Togolese people.
Afterwards Fr José Luis de la Fuente, President of the “NGO Don Bosco” spoke thanking the Government for its willingness to collaborate with the Salesians and expressed the desire of the Salesians to continue, with even greater efforts to collaborate with the various authorities in promoting new initiatives in various social areas in Togo, in particular with the young.
After the official speeches, groups photographs were taken, and the Hon. Ohin was asked “How do you see the work of the Salesians in Togo?”. The Minister replied: “I can only congratulate them for all that they do for Togo and especially for the young people, because a well formed youth contributes to building up a sound Nation.”
The signing of the agreement highlights the work of the Salesians in all fields and with all the people of good will for the benefit of the young.
