Spain – A new Salesian structure |
(ANS – Madrid) – The process for the re-organisation of the Salesian Provinces in Spain is slowly making progress. To arrive at the two new Provinces which will begin in 2014 it is necessary to undertake a long process including many activities. As the Provincials meeting in Madrid on 7 November put it: at present it is a matter of “preparing the way” for the tasks to be carried out in the coming years.
The 6 Provincials of Spain have established a working calendar which involves a meeting on the first Monday of each month. First they intend to hold a meeting for all 6 of them in which to consider the difficulties, the project, the ways of working together... Then, at a second stage, the Provincials will met together according to the future arrangement of the Provinces: the Superiors from Bilbao, León and Madrid on the one hand; and those from Barcelona, Seville and Valencia, on the other.
The meeting on 7 November in the Madrid Provincial House began with a prayer invoking the presence of God and the “Adsumus” of Saint Isidor of Seville. Then they reviewed the II meeting of reflection, prayer and communication held at the weekend of 30 October-1 November at Mohernando (Guadalajara). The assessment was positive and it was proposed to increase the participation in this sort of meeting which will be held in the coming years.
At a second stage attention was turned to the task of Provincial animation. In this regard the Provincials agreed on a list of procedures on which to reflect in view of the re-organisation. It was also decided to draw up a scheme to link the topics for reflection, the decision-making processes, working parties and the calendar for implementation. At the next meeting of the Iberian Conference, between 22 and 25 November the contents of this model will be reviewed and if all are still in agreement, it will be approved.
