(ANS – San Paolo) – Yesterday, 27 September, the  continental meeting of the Social Communication Delegates of the Interamerica and America South Cone Regions came to an end as people shared the reports, the observations of the Team of the  Social Communication Department and the  final analysis of the Councillor, Fr Filiberto González.

During these days there has been the clarification of certain essential aspects of Salesian Social Communication. Fr Filiberto González pointed out the importance of individuals in the Salesian mission, emphasising the role of lay people  and quoting the last letter of the Rector Major (AGC 411) on the “inculturation of the Salesian charism”. The Councillor highlighted the importance of the Salesian presence in the so-called “digital Continent,”  recognising it as a pastoral area inhabited especially by the young.

Fr Jaime González, a member of the SC Department, also remarked on the importance of making use of the charismatic elements in communication, presenting a planning model and proposals as he indicated the need to organise the structures at Province level as well as possible. Other topics considered included the indications of the Congregation regarding communications in times of crisis and the organisation at a professional level.   
 
During the meeting the Provincial Delegates presented reports of their reflections and information about their own Provinces in small groups or individually as questions were asked or as they were requested.

On Sunday 25 September those taking part were able to visit one of the biggest social works in San Paolo, the “Obra Social Don Bosco” in the Itaquera district. The Rector Fr Rosalvino Moran, gave them a guided tour including the technical workshops and the various cultural activities followed by the  children, teenagers and young people who are part of the project.
