(ANS – Pueblo Libre) – On Tuesday 13 September at the Retreat House of the Institute of Jesus in Pueblo Libre the first National meeting of Salesian communicators began. Organised by the Provincial Delegation for Social Communication it was attended by 57 people coming from a majority of the Salesian houses in Perù. The meeting whici consluded on Friday 16, is aimed at setting up a network of collaborators with a shared vision.
In the opening address Fr Santo Dal Ben, Provincial of Perù (PER), mentioned the importance of being aware of belonging to a world-wide network with its origins in Don Bosco. Then Fr Alejandro Arango Ramos, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication explained how Salesian work in social communication draws it value from “Da mihi animas cetera tolle”, an aim that can be achieved by combining forces.
Talks in the morning set out to underline the guide lines of the Salesian charism of the Salesian Province of “Saint Rosa of Lima” in the field of social communication. Fr Miguel Montes Maldonado, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry spoke about the foundations of Salesian Youth Ministry and how they tie in with Social Communication.
Fr Raul Acuña Gallo, Executive Director of the “Salesian Foundation” spoke about the role in Salesian education and ministry of the socialisation of the young. The “Salesian Foundation” intends therefore to encourage contributions from private and business benefactors on behalf of disadvantaged young people.
Fr Augusto Sakihama Miyashiro then gave a report on the presence of the Church in the area of Social Communication on the basis of some official documents from the beginning of the XX century until the present. Fr Ramos spoke briefly about the revision of the Salesian Social Communication System, and the novelty of the concept of communication used today by Salesians: communication as the transversal dimension of educative-pastoral activity.
In the afternoon the Moderator, Dr. Carlos Perez Gavidia, guided a session on aspects of the use and animation of communication.
