This year the courses began in June with groups from the “Don Michael Rua” Formation House in Rionegro. For three days the group of 13 Salesian aspirants followed a programme of awareness building and knowledge about the Theory of Communication, the application of the Salesian Social Communication System (SSCS), and the Manual on public relations and the corporate image. They also did some theoretical-practical work with the typical youth media.
The group played an active role in the work producing for example news bulletins, radio programmes and audiovisual productions of good quality. At the end of the course the aspirants said they were pleased with what they had learned and that they now understood the versatility of communication and its importance for Salesian life.
The second course was for 8 young prenovices who in addition to modules on the SSCS and the Manual on public relations and the corporate image, were given special training on schools’ radio. They also did a practical exercise with a schools’ radio station, making use of such technical means as Auditión 3, Audacy, Virtual DJ and streaming radio.
The prenovices also broadcast two radio programmes live, on the virtual channel of communication on internet and via Facebook. Also taking part in the activities were Salesians from Madrid, Perù, Cali and Bogotà, who having heard the broadcasts congratulated the Salesians in formation for their efforts and what they had learned. At the end of the course they immediately began to think about new forms of communication that could be used in the future for the Province.
