Ecuador – Publishers’ Meeting |
Ecuador – Returning to Don Bosco starting from social communication |
Leading the reflection inspired by the Feast of the Annunciation was Fr Javier Altamirano, Director of the Salesian Regional Centre for Ongoing Formation in Quito (CSRFP). Those talking part shared their thoughts on the passage from the Gospel according to Luke on the Annunciation and then looked at Don Bosco’s Letter to the Salesians in 1885 about spreading good books and the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Benedict XVI “Verbum Domini” on the Word of God in the life and mission of the Church.
The aim of this first day was to enable people to get to know better the idea of communication as a service to the proclamation of the Gospel in line with the Church and according to the Salesian charism.
In the afternoon Fr Marcelo Farfán, the Provincial and Fr Alfredo Espinoza, Economer, gave a reflection on the Provincial guidelines for the work of the Salesians and their activities on behalf of the poor and the young people in the country.
Fr Farfán summed up the involvement in communication under three headings: witness, solidarity and responsibility. Starting from these, “communication enterprises” put themselves at the service of the priority areas and try to undertake a responsible management of the Province’s businesses.
Taking part in the day of recollection were Alexandra Procel, Lina Crespo, Edison Pauta and Alberto Garzón, representing the “EDIBOSCO-LNS”; Kennedy Johnny Guerra from “IMPRENTA DON BOSCO”; Mónica Ulloa from “AUDIOVISUALES DON BOSCO”; Anabel Castillo from “ABYA YALA”; Tatiana Capelo from the Salesian Communication Office and Marcelo Mejía, Provincial Delegate for Communication.
