20/12/2010 - Colombia - Updating for teachers
(ANS – Bogotá) – With the presentation of diplomas on 11 December, in the “Félix Restrepo” auditorium of the Javeriana Pontifical University in Bogotà  to 493 educators, Salesians Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and laity, the updating course for teachers, religious and lay from the “Saint Peter Claver” Province of the Salesians in Bogotá and the  “Our Lady of Chiquinquirá” Province of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians came to an end. The course, with the main themes of the Preventive System and the Salesian Educative Pastoral Plan, was provided in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology of the Javeriana Pontifical University.

There were eight months, 115 hours of personal and group work, and sessions guided by a tutor, 8 modules, on the topic “Educating with the heart of Don Bosco”.

There were also four main aims: to strengthen the charismatic educative-pastoral Salesian identity of the teachers in Salesian schools; knowledge and assimilation of the Salesian Educative Pastoral Plan inspired by the Preventive System, the  re-definition of the local educative-pastoral plans and a greater educative and social impact on the contexts in which the Salesian centres are to be found

Those organising the course also wanted to give a practical response to the Rector Major of the Salesians when he said: “The Preventive System is our educational prophecy, which we are called to offer to day’s young people and to society.”
