Speaking in the context of the Project for Europe with its purpose of relaunching Salesian presence in the Old Continent, Fr José Miguel Núñez, General Councillor for the West Europe Region declared that the Rectors are those who “have to promote and encourage the personal and community conversion which the 26th General Chapter asks of us”.
The meeting had served it was agreed “in the growth as a Region”. The exchange of ideas, the prayers, the Masses and the times of relaxation helped “to develop among us a sense of belonging to this part of the Congregation, in which we share what is happening, the challenges and the possibilities.
Following these days of study and reflection Fr Nuñez presented the conclusions which emphasised the role of the Rector in the spiritual and charismatic animation of the community; his task in building up a genuine fraternal spirit and his role as spiritual guide of the community; his responsibility in the apostolic plan entrusted to him by the Congregation; and the need to care for the individual confreres, and to awaken on them the sense of the primacy of God.
