Presiding at the Thanksgiving Mass was Archbishop of León, José Guadalupe Martín Rábago. Among those who concelebrated were the Salesian Bishop Héctor Guerrero Córdova, bishop of the Mixes, Fr Salvador C. Murguía, Provincial of Mexico-Guadalajara (MEG), Fr Francisco González, Director of the “Niños Don Bosco” Project, and other Sons of Don Bosco who through the years have worked in this important centre.
Also taking part were many benefactors, past pupils, people who cooperated in past years and other friends who were all united in the celebrations which began a year ago and for 12 months had included a variety of significant events including the visit of the relics of Don Bosco.
During the homily Bishop Guerrero Córdova spoke about the importance for the city of the CDN, because of the way it provided accommodation, education and .love for boys from difficult backgrounds, boys who thanks only to the educational system of Don Bosco had been able to grow and become “good Christians and upright citizens.”
On his part, Archbishop Martín Rábago, thanked the Salesians for their untiring work on behalf of the citizens of León and in particular for the children and youngsters most in need and with the least opportunities.
After the Mass festivities continued with some performances and a firework display.
