Dr Lapang thanked the Salesians for their foresight in putting up a cultural museum in Shillong. A past pupil of St Anthony`s College, Shillong, the Chief Minister appreciated the work of the Roman Catholic missionaries, particularly of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the field of education. “We are indeed privileged to have this wonderful museum in our State, which brings out the rich cultural heritage of our people, as well as the great love of the Sons of Don Bosco for our people,” he said.
Dr Lapang spent about an hour and half visiting the different galleries and admiring the different cultural artefacts exhibited in the museum. After his visit, the Chief Minister spent some time putting down his impressions in the Visitors` Book. He wrote: “’A thing of beauty is a joy forever’...thank God that our beloved fathers preserved the cultures lest we forget...it is the pride of Meghalaya, north-east and nation as a whole.”
