The document of approval states that as “the Salesian Family has always collaborated with the Turin local authorities for the benefit of young boys and girls and of the workers, with schools, oratories and projects to prevent juvenile hardship” and in addition “Citizenship is awarded also in consideration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesians and of how they make Turin known in every continent.”
It will in fact be on 18 December the date of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation, that the Rector Major will receive honorary citizenship at the Turin City Hall.
Yesterday afternoon, Fr Stefano Martoglio, Provincial of the Special Circumscription for Piedmont and the Val d’Aosta, telephoned the Rector Major who in these days is in Portugal to inform him of the recognition awarded.
