It was presented by Ernest Maragall, Education Councillor of the Catalonian authorities, and accepted by Mr Miquel Tallada, representing the Schools’ Department of the Barcelona Province (SBA). Also present at the event was Fr Ángel Asurmendi, Provincial of the Salesians in Barcelona.
The Education Councillor remarked how this assessment reflects the commitment of the Salesians during their 125 years in Catalonia, and “which really has no need for this formal procedure”. Mr Maragall also observed that the certification shows how the Salesians are ready “to prepare their students for life, making them aware of the need to continue their education. Wherever the Salesians are to be found the people know how fortunate they are.”
Shortly the other schools in the Province (Andorra, Ciutadella, Huesca e Monzón) will be receiving their certification since they too have successfully undertaken the same external evaluation procedure.
The Salesian schools were the first group to receive the UNE-ISO 9001-2008 certification in Catalonia.
