The Concert now in its XVI year, was made possible thanks to the collaboration and the contribution of the City Authorities of Verona, who hosted the event. The Concerto, in which a considerable number of Italian and foreign singers took part will highlight the situation of the street children in Haiti and the work of the Salesians who devote their lives to them providing accommodation, health care, education and vocational training. In the course of the show Fr Jacky Doyen, a Salesian and Haitian, will presenter in detail the “Foyer-Lakay” project.
Between 24 and 28 December a special telephone number will be open – 48544 – which will enable text messages to be sent or calls of support made. On the site of the Don Bosco in the World Foundation it is possible to find further information and details about the “Foyer-Lakay” Project in Haiti and about other ways of making donations.
Collaboration between “Prime Time Promotions” and the Don Bosco in the World Foundation is not something new: the Christmas Concert last year was dedicated to projects of the Salesians for youngsters in Darfur; in June the Concert in Turin was for the street children of Haiti and the Saints’ Race on 1 November was for youngsters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Concert introduced by the well-known Italian broadcaster Mara Venier, will be on the air this evening at 21.00 (GMT+1) on RaiDUE, the second channel of Italian TV. It will be possible to see a recording of the Christmas Concert on RAI International on 24 December for the Americas at 22.00 (GMT-5), for Australia on 25 December at 03,15 (GMT+10), for Africa and Asia on 24 December at 22,15 (GMT+1) with repeats on 25 December at 16.15 (GMT+2) and 22.15 (GMT+8).
