This is the dossier which on the basis of the Acts of the diocesan enquiry, in meant to show the heroicity of the life and the virtues, as well as the reputation for holiness of the Servant of God. Fr Ferreira presented five large volumes of documentation with a relevant summary, including a biography that he had drawn up with the historical skill for which he is well known.
Present at the official ceremony of the presentation, in addition to the Relator and Fr Ferreira accompanied by Br. José Pedro Menezes, were the Postulator General, Fr Enrico dal Covolo, his collaborator, Fr Luigi Fedrizzi and Fr Hilario Passero, a Brazilian Salesian from the Generalate.
Archbishop Antonio de Almeida Lustosa (1886-1974), one of the most important Salesians in the establishment and the dissemination of the charism of Don Bosco in Brazil, after having been Rector at Lavrinhas, was appointed at 39 years of age Bishop of Uberaba. He was then transferred to the see of Corumbà, and subsequently to Belém do Parà and to Fortaleza. In 1963, after 38 years of activity as Bishop he retired to the Salesian house in Carpina, where he spent the last 15 years of his life and where he died on 14 August 1974. Throughout his whole ministry he lived intensely the “Da mihi animas” of Don Bosco. He is still today considered “the social justice Bishop.”
