Spain – Summer: a time for mission |
Togo – Third Cross-Country event is a great success |
The area is short of secondary schools and this means that the only one is overcrowded and it is impossible to fit in any more of the many students who want to continue their studies. For many boys and girls the only solution is to move or travel long distances.
With this project by the two NGO and the local community it is hoped to improve the prospects for access to an education for all those socially disadvantaged young people and so contribute to breaking the vicious circle of poverty.
The new school will also be a place in which it will be possible to provide courses connected with increasing an awareness of the need for education, lessons on protecting the environment, health and social education and issues such as HIV and other useful topics.
The success of the project is ensured by the close collaboration between the ’“Association Don Bosco Kara” and the local people, especially with organisations such as the Federation of Craft Workers in Kara (FAREKA) and that for women (FERKE), the Centre for the Promotion of Women, the Workers’ Craft Centre, and the “Foyer” for boys and girls in the area.
