The Solidarity Campaign held between 22 and 26 December, was linked with the “Christmas Concert” in the Philharmonic Theatre in Verona broadcast on RAI DUE on 24 December.
Present at the Press Conference were the Mayor of Verona, Flavio Tosi, Dr. Meocci, Deputy Mayor, Dr Erminia Perbellini, for the Cultural Committee, Fr Gianmario Breda, Rector of the Don Bosco Institute, Mr. Andrea Comino, Fr Lorenzo Fontana and Laura Tassone from the Don Bosco in the World Foundation. Also present were Stefania Scorpio, Deputy Administrator and Eligio Ermeti, President of Prime Time Promotions, which organised the “Christmas Concert.”
The Mayor Dr Tosi spoke about the success of the event which in addition to providing an evening of high quality musical entertainment put the city of Verona at the centre of a solidarity project at such a significant time as Christmas Eve and focused attention on the problems of Darfur and of the many victims of the crisis that so greatly afflicts that country..
Laura Tassone, in the name of the Don Bosco in the World Foundation, reported that the Solidarity Campaign on behalf of projects for Darfur had realised over 320,000 euro.
In thanking all those involved in the Campaign, the Mayor announced that the City of Verona would also host the 2008 Concert.
