(ANS – Guadalajara) – Saturday 18 August the two Mexican provinces of Guadalajara (MEG) and Mexico (MEM) rejoiced at the perpetual profession of 5 Salesians, at a Eucharist at which the Rector Major of the Salesians presided, Fr Pascual Chávez, on a visit to his homeland to attend the 5th International Congress on Mary Help of Christians, taking place that day in Mexico City.
The celebration took place at the Church of Mary Help of Christians in Guadalajara. Two Mexican provincials, Fr Filiberto González (MEG) and Fr Miguel Aguilar (MEM) concelebrated with the Rector Major, along with many Salesians from both provinces. A number of Salesian Sisters were present as well as other members of the Salesian Family, besides the relatives and friends of those making their profession.
Fr Chávez exhorted the perpetually professed to thank God for the gift of life and to give themselves into His service generously, especially for needy youth, to be signs and bearers of his love for them. He also insisted on their understanding life as a gift and on the inability to be happy unless we share that life.
IThe Rector Major also thanked the parents of those making their profession for the gift of their children to God exhorting the newly finally professed to “become Eucharist" that is “bread broken and shared” in order to assuage the hunger of those in this world who need not only bread for the body but for the spirit, since inly God can overcome man`s deepest hunger.
Of the 5 Salesians making their final profession, 1 belongs to Mexico-Mexico province and 4 to Mexico-Guadalajara.
