21/1/2016 - Nigeria - Solidarity support for a bakery in Ibadan

(ANS - Ibadan) - Thanks to the support of an association in Piedmont with the collaboration of citizens and the efforts of some Italian Salesian missionaries in Nigeria, the Salesian centre in Ibadan can continue to expand its facilities to offer the best to the young people who frequent it.

The town council of Bra is an active participant in the Piedmontese association "Together in Solidarity" which recently handed over a donation of €3,000 to Bro. Paul Vaschetto, SDB. Bro. Paul is originally from Bra and has been working in Africa for 15 years.

On account of the link with some fellow townsmen such as Bro Paul and Fr Vincenzo Marrone, SDB, also from Piedmont and formerly a missionary in Ibadan, the association has been supporting the apostolic and educational work of the Salesians in Nigeria for the past three years.

With this latest donation the community will be able to open a real bakery, which will not only allow them to bake bread for the needs of the Salesian house and the boys, but will also serve to train young people for work.

"This is great news” commented Bro. Paul to the newspaper 'Targato CN'. “Now the area for the production of bread will become super-efficient ... a real bakery. We are grateful to the Association 'Together in Solidarity' who have been supporting our work for three years, with the salary for our social worker in the first year, the oven last year and this latest gift of the mixer and other equipment ... As Don Bosco used to say: May God bless and reward all our benefactors!"
