(ANS - Barcelona) – The opening of the Holy Door of the Jubilee of mercy in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Tibidabo took place on Sunday 10 January, Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The ceremony began on the steps in front of the crypt and was attended by many faithful.

The ceremony was presided over by Bishop Juan Godayol i Colom SDB, retired bishop of Ayaviri in Peru. With a strong wind blowing, the bishop addressed some words to the faithful and then, with crozier in hand, opened the Holy Door. Immediately the faithful began to enter the crypt, singing the verses of Psalm 121: "I rejoiced when I heard them say, let us go to the house of the Lord!'".

During the Mass, the bishop stressed the importance of the indulgences that can be received under the conditions indicated by the Church. They can also be applied to the faithful departed, by virtue of the doctrine of the Communion of Saints.

Those who asked questions about the Indulgence were reminded that it is not enough to have participated at the opening ceremony of the Holy Door or to enter through it, but that other conditions, among which there is sacramental confession, must also be met.
