(ANS - Rome)- The Rector Major, Fr Angel Fernandez Artime, with the consent of the General Council, has appointed Fr James Briody, Superior of the Province of Great Britain (GBR) and Fr Michael Karikunnel, Superior of the Province of English-Speaking West Africa (AFW).

Fr Briody was born on 7 May 1964 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire (Scotland). He entered the novitiate in Dublin on 7 September 1983, made his first profession in Maynooth on 8 September 1984 and his final profession on 22 July 1995 in Motherwell. He was member of the House Council in Farnborough from 1 September 2002 until 1 September 2005 and is currently member of the House Council and Headmaster of the school in Bootle.

Fr Karikunnel was born on 3 August 1957 in Marangadu, Kottayam (India) in the diocese of Palai. He entered the novitiate of Shillong-Sunnyside on 30 May 1978, made his first profession on 24 May 1979 in Sunnyside and his perpetual profession on 4 June 1988 at Urumbukavu. Most recently he was Provincial Councillor of AFW and Delegate for the Nigerian Delegation of the same Province.
