(ANS - Seville) – A video has been launched as part of the campaign "Súmate los derechos de la infância X" (Support children's rights), run by the three Salesian NGOs "VOLS", "Jóvenes y Desarrollo" and "Solidaridad Don Bosco" from the Spanish Province of Mary Help of Christians. This is the official video in which boys and girls, young and old, from the Salesian works encourage everyone to participate in the initiative.
"Súmate" is a global campaign to support specific Salesian projects in various parts of the world, in places where the three Spanish NGOs are collaborating. At the present time these are:
Syria - with a project to help the Syrian people hosted in the Salesian centres in Aleppo, Damascus and Kafroun".
The aim of the project is to support the Syrians who remain trapped and wounded by the terrible war which has lasted more than four years, especially families who have taken refuge in the Salesian houses in Aleppo, Damascus and Kafroun, who cannot or do not want to leave their country but are living in a situation of persecution. They are in desperate need of medicines, drinking water, electricity, food, fuel for cooking and school supplies;
Benin - with a project to upgrade equipment at the Don Bosco Foyer in Kandi.
The project aims to improve the services on behalf of boys and girls on the street who come to the Don Bosco Foyer in Kandi, as part of its programme to protect the fundamental rights of children at risk and victims of trafficking;
Ecuador - with a project to provide appropriate educational opportunities for children and adolescents living in poverty.
With the aim of reducing the school dropout rate, the project seeks to improve the academic performance of 866 children deemed at-risk who attend the Father Antonio Amador educational unit and the "Patio Mi Pana" and "Nuestros Hijos" centres in Guayaquil.
The "Súmate" campaign will also support the work done by the three NGOs in Spain, through the services of Education for Development and Volunteers.
The video is available on YouTube.
