(ANS – Medellin) – Fr.Á.F. Artime dedicated the entire morning of October 30th to children and youth; in the evening he participated at the beginning of the Congress “Salesian Charism and Post-Conflict” and later on with the Salesian Family where he presided over the Eucharist in the College of Mary Help of Christians; at the end of the day he had a meeting with the Provincial Councils of the FMA Sisters and the SDBs.
At 9.30 the Rector Major gave the “good morning” to the students of the Pedro Justo Berrío Institute and, later on, he also met the young of the MGS (Juvenile Sports Movement) of the Salesian Province and of the FMA Provinces. Each delegation gave their welcome to Fr. Angel and expressed their gratitude with a few words and a small gift.
Fr. Angel invited the young to keep an eye full of hope in the processes of peace and when asked which were the characteristics of Don Bosco to implement the project of life of each one, he answered, “I am convinced that if Don Bosco were alive he would tell you to have full confidence in yourselves, because he knew how important it is to have self-confidence, – and added – I believe in each one of you”.
Don Bosco would tell you: “My dear boys and girls, I truly wish you to be the protagonists of your own lives”, you must be the ones who make a dream come true and who their have project of life by getting close to Jesus.
He eventually invited them “to dream with authentic passion … and always to lift up their hearts to God, because in this way, without any doubt the Lord will accompany them”. (Gallery of the encuentro con los jóvenes).
In the evening the Rector Major participated in the Pedagogical Congress of the Salesian Family. (Gallery of the Congreso “Carisma Salesiano y Posconflicto”).
Moreover Fr.Á.F. Artime presided over the Eucharist with the Salesian Family in the College of Mary Help of Christians in Medellin. In his homily the Rector Major reminded that as Salesian Family they are called to be “salt of the earth and light of the world” because Colombia needs men and women of faith who are a ray of light in the darkness of other lives. He equally reminded that they have to go to the young and that Salesian Houses must be houses with doors wide open (Gallery Familia Salesiana).
After the Eucharist with the Salesian Family, the Provincial Councils of SDBs and FMAs gathered for dinner, in which the guests of honour were the Rector Major Fr.Á.F. Artime and his Secretary, Fr. Horacio López. A group of musicians performed a song of “tuna compostelana” and “porompopero”. (Gallery Consejos SDB y FMA).
